The
Florida Certification Board (FCB) may grant the classification,
Retired Emeritus Status (RES), to Certified Addiction Professionals
(CAP), Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professionals (CCJAP),
and Certified Addiction Prevention Professionals (CAPP) who are
fifty five (55) years old, provided a minimum of ten (10) years
of meritorious service, and are retiring from employment in the
AODA, Criminal Justice and/or Prevention fields with NO INTENTION
of returning to any form of employment.

Granting
Retired Emeritus Status
- Persons
certified by the FCB who desire retired emeritus status must send
a letter of request to the FCB office which will include the effective
date of retirement;
- Staff
reviews all requests for retired emeritus status. If the request
meets the criteria for RES, the staff will approve the request
and send a notice to the applicant: and
- If
the applicant does not meet the criteria and is not granted retired
emeritus status, the applicant may appeal the staff's decision
by writing to the Executive Committee.
Retired
Emeritus Fees
No
enrollment, renewal fees or continuing education requirements apply
to persons seeking or granted RES.
RETIRED
EMERITUS STAUS
Rights, Responsibilities and Limitations
The
retired emeritus classification holder:
- may
identify him or herself by his or her classification as a Certified
Addition Professional Emeritus, a Certified Criminal Justice Addiction
Professional Emeritus, and/or a Certified Addiction Prevention
Professional Emeritus; and
- continues
to receive all FCB newsletters, communications; and
- agrees
to remain retired with no intention to returning to any form of
employment in the AODA, Criminal Justice or Prevention fields;
and
- remains
ineligible for ICRC reciprocity
- who
desires to regain an active FCB credential must reapply for the
new credential and adhere to the FCB credential application process
in place at the time of their application.
LIMITED RETIREMENT STATUS
The
Board may grant Limited Retirement Status to FCB certified persons
who retired from full-time employment and have no intention of ever
returning to full-time employment within the AODA, Criminal Justice
and/or Prevention fields.
The
Board may grant Limited Retirement Status (LRS) to an active certification
holder under the following circumstances. The LRS applicant must
have:
- attained
the age of sixty-five (65); and
- not
be employed for more than five-hundred (500) hours per year within
the AODA, Criminal Justice and/or Prevention fields.

Granting
Limited Retirement Status
- FCB
certified persons desiring limited retired status will send a
letter of request to the FCB office, which will include:
- an
effective date of retirement authenticated by supporting letter
from the retiree's former employer; or
- if
continuing to work part-time in the AODA, Criminal Justice
and/or Prevention fields, include a letter from the retiree's
current work employer verifying that the certified retiree
will not be employed more than five-hundred (500) hours per
year; and
- the
non-refundable enrollment fee of $75.00
- Staff
will review all requests for limited retirement status. If the
request meets the criteria for limited retirement status, the
staff will approve the request and send a written notice to the
applicant.
- If
the applicant does not meet the criteria and is not granted limited
retirement status, the applicant may appeal the staff's decision
by writing to the FCB's Executive Committee.
LIMITED
RETIREMENT STATUS
Rights, Responsibilities and Limitations
- A
limited retirement status enrollment fee will be required at the
time of application for LRS. The enrollment fee is $75.00.
- In
addition to the enrollment fee, the annual LRS annual certification
fee will be twenty-five percent (25%) of the fee for the applicant's
respective certification $95.00
- In
order to maintain limited retirement status, the LRS certification
holder must pay the LRS re-certification fees annually. Invoices
will be mailed in March/April of each year, and fees are due by
June 30th
The
certified person holding limited retirement status:
- will
not be employed within the AODA, Criminal Justice and/or prevention
fields for more than five-hundred (500) hours per year
- is
not eligible for reciprocity within the International Certification
Reciprocity Consortium (ICRC).

will subscribe to his or her respective FCB code of conduct
- will
fulfill the continuing education and training requirements ten
(10) hours of continuing education/training, exclusive of in-service
training, Hours are to be submitted annually with fees.
- will
not be able to return to his or her past active certification
status within the AODA, Criminal Justice and/or Prevention fields
unless the person holding a limited retirement status certification
reapplies for active certification and adheres to all the requirements
within the certification application process in place at the time
of their reapplication.

enjoys all other rights and privileges afforded to any other person
certified by the FCB within the State of Florida.
